Adi Dravidar and Welfare Department is implementing various educational scholarship Schemes from 1st Std to P.G & Ph.D degree with the prime objective of providing quality education to Socially and Economically backward SC, ST and SCC people to ensure socio-economic, educational development, social dignity and self sustainability.

6.1

Government of India Post Matric Scholarship Scheme for SC/ST

  • All compulsory and non-refundable fees, payable to Govt. / Govt. aided schools and colleges are sanctioned as Scholarship along with maintenance allowance.
  • Adi Dravidar students admitted under Government quota and Scheduled Tribe students admitted under Government Quota and Management Quota in self financing colleges are paid with the compulsory and non refundable fees as fixed by the Government / Fee Fixation Committee and maintenance allowance. For other than Govt,Quato seats in self financing colleges the compulsory   non refundable fee as fixed for the Govt.quato seats will be given subject to fulfillment of the following conditions stipulated by Govt.of India.
    1. Fee for the courses is fixed by the fixation fee regulatory committee consitituted by the competent authority.
    2. Admission process for the seats should be carried out in a transparent manner by calling applications through advertisement publication of rank list, short listing the selected applications on Merit etc.,

Maintenance Allowance:

Day Scholars

Rs. 230/- to Rs. 550/- per month

Hostellers

  • Rs. 380/- to Rs. 1200/- per month depending upon the course
  • Students studying beyond 10th  Std.
  • Parent/ Guardian’s Annual Income is upto Rs.2.50 lakhs  (Gross income of all Sources will be taken into account)
  • SC/ ST students only

6.2

Government of India Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme for the children of those engaged in unclean occupation.

Day Scholars

Maintenance Allowance:

Scholarship Rs.225/- per month

(From 1st Std to 10th Std)

Adhoc Grant - Rs.750/- per annum.

Hostellers

Maintenance Allowance:

Scholarship Rs.700/- per month (From 3rd Std to 10th Std)

Adhoc Grant - Rs.1000/-

Children of those Parents engaged in unclean occupation Such as Scavenging, Tanning, Flaying, Waste Picking.

Higher Education Special Scholarship

The SC/ST/SCC students Studying in Government / Government Aided Institution and staying in paid institution Hostels are provided with a financial grant.

  • For degree / polytechnic courses Rs.7500/- p.a.
  • Post graduate / professional courses  Rs. 8000/- p.a.
  • Parents / Guardian Annual Income should not exceed Rs.2.50 lakhs
  • Students staying in paid  college  hostels rather than free Government hostels.

Overseas Scholarship

Students who aspire to take up Post Graduate and research studies in  abroad  in the field of :

  • Engineering
  • Technology and other
  • Science disciplines are encouraged by providing scholarship as follows:

Fees and Taxes in actual and Living expenses depending upon the country in which the scholar pursues his study.

  • The Parent’s / Guardian’s income is upto Rs.3 lakhs per annum.
  • Students belonging to Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribes

Incentive for Full time Ph.D., Scholar

SC/ST Students pursuing full time Ph.D courses in recognized institutions in Tamil Nadu are awarded with an  incentive of Rs.50,000/- per annum for 1200 students.

  • Students belonging to Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribes pursuing Full Time Ph.D
  • Parent  / guardian annual income is upto  Rs.2.50 lakhs.

  • Students belonging to SC, ST and who connot benefit under Govt. of India Post Matric Scholarship Scheduled Castes  converted to Christianity
  • Parent / Guardian Annual Income  is upto Rs.2.50 lakhs.
  • In respect of Tamil Nadu Government Servants, DA should not be included while reckoning income.

Exemption of Tuition Fees

All Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Scheduled Caste converts to Christianity students studying in Government / Government aided institutions are exempted from paying tuition fees

Institutions should submit their reimbursement proposals to the Commissionarate of Adi Dravidar Welfare

Special Fees and Examination Fees to the Under Graduate students

All Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Scheduled Caste converts to Christianity students studying in Government / Government aided Arts and Science Colleges are provided with Special Fees and Exam Fees.

Special fees and Examination Fees to the Post Graduate Girl students.

All Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Scheduled Caste converts to Christianity girl students studying in Government / Government aided Arts and Science Colleges are provided with Special Fees and Exam Fees.

  • No income limit

Special Fee concession

All Students studying from std. 6 to std. 12 in Adi Dravidar Welfare Department schools are exempted from paying Special fee.

  • No income limit.

Exemption of Examination Fees / Application  Fees / Registration Fees 

Students studying in Standards X , XI and XII in Government, Government Aided Schools are exempted from paying examination fee.  

Graduate/Post graduate students studying in Government / Government Aided Colleges  are exempted from Application fee and Registration fee

  • No income limit
  • Adi Dravidars, Tribals,
    Adi Dravidar Converted to Christianity students.
  • Proposals to be sent to the Commissionerate of Adi Dravidar Welfare / Director, Tribal Welfare,
    Chennai-5.

    For Application /   Registration Fee, Institutions should send proposals to concerned District Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Officer / Project Officer (Tribal Welfare).
