To attain the goal of ensuring all youth and a substantial proportion of adults, both men and women, achieve literacy and numeracy by 2030 as set in Sustainable Development Goals 2030, the Government is taking sustained efforts in running Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare schools, disbursement of scholarships to large numbers of underprivileged students, providing hostel facilities to students. This has led to an impressive rise in the literacy rate and educational standards amongst the Adi Dravidar and Scheduled Tribes.

In order to build and upgrade education facilities to the needs of the children differently abled and gender provide safe, non-violent, inclusive and effective learning environments for all and therby create sustained development and improvement in education as envisaged in Sustainable Development Goals 2030, this Department is running 1135 schools at the habitations where the Adi Dravidar people are concentrated.

Further, in order to meet out the increasing ambition for higher education, the schools run by this department are upgraded to the next higher level whenever required.  Infrastructure facilities such as additional classrooms, science labs, drinking water, toilets etc., are provided to these schools under State funds and assistance from NABARD.
